Dolores is a board certified Geropsychologist with over 25 years of experience, a Stanford University School of Medicine Research Professor Emerita,  and former director of the Stanford Geriatric Education Center (SGEC). She received her PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Southern California and intensive training in Cognitive Therapy from Dr. Aaron T. Beck and associates at the Center for Cognitive Therapy in Philadelphia.

Together with Larry, Dolores applied her experience to modify traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)  to best benefit older adults.  She then extended this newly minted form of CBT to elders of diverse backgrounds. She is an expert in adapting programing to consider cultural influence of the participants which was central to the success of the interventions. Dolores maintains a strong interest in ways to reduce stress in family caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia.

Dolores believes in developing strong community partnerships. She has volunteered for over 20 years with the Northern CA/ Northern NV chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and was one of the first people to establish their Diversity and Inclusion committee – on which she still serves. Her efforts in the field of geropsychology have seen her receive many awards and lead to many publications.
