CaregiverTLC is an evidence-based psychoeducational intervention designed for family caregivers for people with chronic illnesses including memory loss delivered over a teleconference platform such as Zoom.   The workshop  is  based on Dr. Gallagher Thompson’s Coping with Caregiving from the original REACH research

Description:

Caregiver-TLC is a psychoeducational intervention intended for caregivers of persons with a chronic illness, including memory loss.  The Workshop focus on the caregivers and issues they may experience due to their position as a caregiver, such as stress, mood management, resilience and support, self-care, frustration/ anger management, and social connectedness derived from support available via the internet.  Consisting of six 90-minute sessions and delivered over a teleconference platform, this Workshop uses a small group format with 6-8 members in each cohort.  In addition to the Workshop, educational information and resources are shared via a dedicated website.

Trainings are designed to be offered by a sponsoring Agency as we seek to establish a group expertise within the Agency to promote fidelity and professional inner-agency support for those facilitating the intervention. Trainees are not required to be licensed mental health professionals, Optimal Aging Center trainers will work with your Agency to provide the level of training needed to effectively deliver the CaregiverTLC to your agency’s caregivers.
