Depression can make it difficult to increase the amount of positive experiences in day to day life.  To improve your sense of well-being, it is important to increase activities that are rewarding, meaningful, and valued. But how do we increase these positive experiences when we can’t think of anything that might be rewarding, meaningful, or positive?

The COPPES-R contains a series of 46 items that can help us think of things that are do-able and that can improve  mood. Meant to be best used in collaboration with a therapist, these items can help us to discover activities that we may have found enjoyable or meaningful in the past and new activities to try out and add. For each COPPES-R item, you will be asked to give two ratings. The first is for how often the activity occurred in the past month. The second is for how positive, rewarding, or valued it was, or would have been if it had happened. 

Think of this measure as a starting off point.  When it is hard to think of any positive experiences to add to your daily schedule, the COPPES-R along with the assistance of a licensed behavioral health provider, can be a great jumping off point to an increased sense of well-being.

The following are two options available for the COPPES-R. A PDF is available for download for those who prefer to take a pen and paper type of measure.  The web version allows a person to take the measure online and will generate a report immediately upon completion.  The result of the measure are not saved – you must either print the webpage or copy and paste the report into a new document to retain the results. If you leave the webpage, the results are discard to preserve your privacy and you must retake the measure.  No data is stored on this website!
